Third World Information Network (TWIN) founded with the support of the Greater London Council.
1988
Twin first imported coffee from a Mexican cooperative and sold it through Oxfam and Traidcraft.
1991
Twin launches Cafédirect with Traidcraft, Oxfam and Equal Exchange to introduce fair trade coffee to the mainstream market.
1992
First Twin conference on producer partnership and joint coffee marketing.
Fairtrade Foundation established.
1993
Twin helps Ghanaian farmers establish Kuapa Kokoo cocoa cooperative.
1995
Producer conference.
1997
Producer Partnership Programme created at request of producer organisations.

1998
Twin launches the Day Chocolate Company (now Divine Chocolate), of which Ghanaian cooperative Kuapa Kokoo is the main shareholder.
1999
Producer conference.
2001
Launch of Agrofair UK (now OKÉ) with producers and partners of Agrofair Europe, bringing Fairtrade fruit to the UK for the first time.

2004
Cafedirect executed the UK’s biggest ethical public share issue to become a publicly listed company, raising £5 million from 4,500 investors, including grower partners, consumers, employees and founders.
2005
Twin celebrates its 20th Anniversary with 'Fairtrade at the Crossroads' event, bringing together 150 key partners.
2006
First import of Fairtrade nuts.
2007
Launch of Liberation nuts with producer partners from Africa, Asia and Latin America.
24 producer partners formally join Twin under restructuring process to become a producer-driven membership organisation.
Divine turnover exceeds £10 million, launches Divine USA.
