Environment statement
Twin has put climate change at the forefront of its strategic priorities. This is a reflection of the severity of future climate impacts on Twin’s producer partners as well as the corresponding strain on supply.
Twin has developed an environmental action plan as a demonstration of its will and commitment to decrease its own environmental impact, and to promote environmental sustainability amongst its staff, associates, shareholdings and partners. The policy is based on recommendations presented in a robust eco-audit commissioned in 2011, which highlighted a number of areas of good practice as well as more challenging issues to be addressed.
Twin will involve all staff in the implementation of this policy as well as disseminating relevant information more widely, including the progress made on a variety of agreed environmental performance indicators.
Twin is committed to reduce:
- Gas and electricity usage
- Air travel
- Paper consumption
In addition, Twin is committed to:
- Take steps to understand and analyse its logistics footprint in greater depth;
- Develop a broader green office procurement policy;
- Influence companies in which we have an equity stake to improve their environmental footprint;
- Identify ways in which producer partner organisations can improve their environmental footprint and reviewing implications for Twin’s Producer Partnership Programme approach.
Twin will monitor and report on progress against these indicators on a regular basis, at SMT and Board meetings, as well as reporting externally via its Annual Report.
