The catastrophic magnitude 7.0 earthquake that shook Haiti on the 12 of January is estimated to have affected over three million people. Thierry Akroman has been in touch with Recocarno (which is situated in the north of the island – at some distance from the epicenter) and fortunately no injuries of deaths were suffered by members there. However communications with relatives and friends living in Port-au-Prince were still very difficult if not impossible. We are now liaising with other northern partners and coffee buyers in the UK in the hope of coordinating any support required by partners in the next few months.
El catastrófico terremoto de magnitud 7.0 que meció a Haiti el 12 de Enero se estima ha afectado a mas de 3 millones de habitantes. Thierry Akroman ha estado en contacto con Recocarno (que esta situado en el norte de la isla – a cierta distancia del epicentro) y afortunadamente no hubieron victimas ni lesiones entre sus miembros. Sin embargo las comunicaciones con familiares y amigos en Puerto Príncipe aun son extremadamente difíciles sino imposibles. Estamos comenzando discusiones con otros compradores y socios en el Reino Unido para coordinar el apoyo que será necesario en los próximos meses.
